Cyber Security Level 3 IT Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*
One of the most exciting areas of computing is that of Cyber Security, where you pit your knowledge and expertise in computing to safeguard resources from hacking and malicious cyber attacks. SGS College is one of the few FE Institutions in the country able to offer Cyber Security at this level.
All Academy learners will follow the BTEC Level 3 in IT and may be given the opportunity to complete an AS Mathematics course (depending upon GCSE Maths results) and a programme to prepare learners to take the Microsoft Technical Associate exam in Computer Security.
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including English and Maths.
You will require an interview with the course leader
The College's comprehensive student record system records progress on vocational courses, grades for AS homework and performance in practice tests for professional exams. All learners are allocated a tutor and will receive regular one-to-one sessions, to establish personal targets and to then review performance and discuss progress.
Learners who are continuing at the College may be given the opportunity to complete further professional exams. Learners who are completing their programme of study are expected to continue onto university, an apprenticeship or security-related employment.
This is a broad-based programme, which will keep your options open. Learners can move directly into jobs as IT technicians, junior programmers or web developers. If you progress to university, there are further opportunities to specialise in computer science, forensic computing, cyber security, games development, network management or systems analysis. Alternatively, you may consider taking an advanced apprenticeship.
