History at Reepham High School and College
History is an intellectual experience which gives students an insight not only into the past, but into the society in which we live today. The subject leads you to question past events, people and humanity as a whole. Through the study of a broad range of historical topics you will develop skills that are valued by both universities and employers alike and will open doors to a range of professions. You will develop a depth of knowledge that will complement a range of other AS and A2 subjects such as English Literature, Sociology, Psychology and Philosophy.
The course is comprised of two units in Year 12, both of which are assessed in examinations in the summer and a further two units in Year 13, assessed through one examination unit and one piece of coursework. There will be a chance to go to Krakow in Poland, where we visit Auschwitz concentration camp and meet with a Holocaust survivor. This is not only an excellent opportunity for students to deepen their historical knowledge, but also a valuable life experience in developing a greater understanding of the world in which we live.
You will need at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or Mathematics and have to meet the minimum entry requirements for each subject. Grade ‘B’ in History or English
