Engineering Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Mid Cheshire College
This is a theory based course with some practical work covering electrical/electronic and mechanical engineering.
The course covers the following areas: mechanical technology; digital and analogue electronics; computer aided design (CAD); electrical and electronic principles; engineering materials; mathematics for engineering; engineering design; science for engineering; mechanical technology and mechanical principles.
This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.
The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.
The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 3 will be the development of personal, social and enterprise skills to enable progression to higher levels of study or employment.
As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.
Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.
4 GCSEs at grade A* - C or equivalent.
Preferably the GCSEs should include Maths and Science.
This will be through classroom studies, practical work, problem solving, communicating ideas, teamwork and assignments. There will be continuous assessment of a portfolio containing evidence of completed assignments.
After completing this course, you will be qualified to progress on to a higher education qualification, such as the HNC/HND in Engineering at Mid Cheshire College, depending on grades. Alternatively, you may wish to consider an alternative engineering related HNC, degree, or employment within the engineering sector.
