Course description

AS Level (Year 12)
There are 2 examinations at the end of the summer term.
72 marks per exam paper (1 hour 30 minutes to complete each exam)

Examination Paper 1
Memory; Attachment; Social Influences

Examination Paper 2
Approaches in Psychology; Psychopathology; Research Methods

A Level (Year 13)
There are 3 examinations at the end of the 2 year course
96 marks per exam paper (2 hours to complete each exam).

Examination 1
Memory; Attachment; Social Influences; Psychopathology

Examination 2
Approaches in Psychology; Biopsychology; Research Methods

Examination 3
Issues, Debates and Approaches; Cognition and Development; Schizophrenia; Aggression

Entry requirements

Apart from the minimum entry requirements for the Sixth Form you are expected to achieve a grade 5 in both Maths and English Language and a B grade in Biology

Future opportunities

If you are looking for post-Sixth Form employment, employers look favourably on Psychology because of the skills you will have developed during the course. Psychology is also a stepping stone for a whole range of degree courses. These include Pure Psychology to Psychology and Crime Studies.
