Course content:

AS level units

 Sociological research methods: How do sociologists actually investigate societies?  Family - What are the functions of the family? What is the ‘normal’ family? Does your family have an impact on your life?  How do we learn to behave? How is your identity formed? How do you become you? What do sociologists think about how society is created.

A2 level units:

 Education: Do we live in a meritocratic system? What is the role of education? How does your class/gender/ethnicity affect your education?  Social Inequality: Is there a class system in Britain? If yes are the working class the underclass? Are we controlled by the upper class?  Research Methods: How do we explore social inequality and difference

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of five GCSE passes including English at Grade C or above. You do not need a GCSE in Sociology to take this course.
