IT (Computer Creativity) BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

This course provides an opportunity for learners with little or no computing experience to gain an IT qualification.

The course is designed to give you a broad range of IT skills and insight into the industry. You will be introduced to a wide variety of applications and allow you to build on your creative skills to become innovative and show what you can really do. Students will be taught about spreadsheets, presentations, word processing, using the internet and email, and design, imaging and website software.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take further IT qualifications at an appropriate level.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications required. All students will need to attend an interview with a course tutor.


Students will complete 3 projects covering the 16 units, and these projects will be assignment based, with a variety of assessment methods. Functional Skills will require a written test and PSD (Personal and Social development) will be assessed through assignment and portfolio.

Future opportunities

Employment at the first stage of data management. Alternatively, progression to Computer Innovation and Design at Level 2.
