Sport BTEC at Boroughbridge High School

Course description

Why is sport so competitive?  How do elite athletes become so good?  What do sports people really focus on?  How do you get the body and mind to perform to maximum levels? What tricks do the elite sports people use?

The Physical Education Department will help to find the answers to these questions.  Its enthusiastic staff will promote healthy and active lifestyles through regular involvement in physical activity.  We also aim to provide opportunities for individuals to increase their confidence, reach goals and represent a sport to a high level.  The course also prepares you for further study at University level on courses such as Sports Science, Physiotherapy or Teaching.

The BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport is designed to provide a specialist, work-related qualification which is very marketable in the huge industry of Sport, Leisure and Recreation.  It not only gives learners the knowledge and understanding they need to prepare for employment but the specific skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.  This course is an ideal option for someone choosing to be a sports coach, leisure manager, fitness instructor or sports psychologist.
