Course description

With the rise of the internet and social media the Journalism profession is changing. Although print news is still popular, there is more focus on digital media forms such as the internet, radio and video format. Our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Journalism) is designed to inspire the journalists of the future and give you the skills you need to be a journalist in the age of the internet. The Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Journalism) is a two year course designed to teach you the fundamentals of Journalism.

You will learn to work to industry expectations and work in a variety of mediums such as, radio, print, television and the internet. During the course you will undertake in the production of a variety or practical productions such as documentaries, magazines, newspapers, radio shows, and websites. There is also a strong focus on theory practice on the course to teach you how to write factual media production and the codes and conventions used in the journalism industry.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs or equivalents at grades C or above including English Language and Maths, or full level 2 diploma in Media or related area.


Most assessments are Assignment based. This consists of game practical projects, presentations and written work.

Future opportunities

Once completed you have the opportunity to take your knowledge of Media Production to the next level at University. Students who produce particularly impressive work may even move directly into the industry itself.
