Spanish A-Level at Campion School

Course description

Students studying Modern Languages will explore and develop understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries or communities where the foreign language is spoken. They will be encouraged to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in the foreign language through both the spoken and written word using increasingly accurate, complex and varied language. In addition, they will develop their ability to understand the spoken and written forms of the language from a variety of registers.

Entry requirements

A grade C in Spanish although a grade B is preferred.

Assessment

AS – Media, Popular Culture, Healthy Living, Family Relationships A2 – Environment, Multicultural Society Contemporary Social Issues and the Culture of the Country

Future opportunities

Studying this subject may lead to a career which will involve translating or interpreting skills in such fields as Export Marketing and Selling, Travel and Tourism, Banking, Advertising or the Media. For Higher Education, a foreign language can be studied as a straight degree course but is more usually combined with another language, Business Studies, Law, History or Economics and many other subjects. A degree in Modern Languages can enhance your career chances considerably.
