Drama and Theatre Studies at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Free School

Course description

This course focuses on working with plays and provides an opportunity to study plays from the point of view of a director, designer, performer and critic. The course is designed to enable students to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the language of drama and theatre as well as to develop their performing and analytical skills.

In devising theatre, students alternate roles between being playwright, performer, designer and director and apply their knowledge of different theatre forms and structures to the creation of their own work. In performing theatre, students are required to apply their knowledge, skills and understanding within the structure of a director’s interpretation of a play and to operate at a highly intellectual level as well as at a highly skilled practical level.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are in-line with other local providers. To study with us you will need to have an average of at least 6 grade Bs at GCSE, (including grade B’s in any subjects that you wish to study at A level that you have already studied at GCSE.) We are aware that there may be special circumstances that mean that you won’t achieve this level of results. We do sometimes reduce this minimum standard under such conditions - please do get in touch.
