Extended Project Qualification Level 3 at Walton High
EPQ involves conducting research in almost any area which the candidate chooses. Students will have taught sessions which cover a range of research and presentation skills. These taught skills include: organisation and planning, problem solving, credibility, editing reports, presentation skills and public speaking, copyright and plagiarism, evaluating research, interviews, surveys and questionnaires, interpreting graphs, charts and data, using the library and the internet and referencing. The course is highly regarded and is an appropriate fourth choice for any candidate wishing to proceed into higher education.
Candidates have a choice of producing a long report, artefact or live production as an Extended Project. However, all projects must be accompanied by a research report, presentation and fully completed production log. This course is equivalent to more than half an A level and candidates can receive up to 70 UCAS points for this qualification.
An interest in developing a research project in a topic of choice.
The assessment is holistic, candidates must submit a written report, evidence of project outcome, presentation and a completed production log.
