The course for you if ...

You want to prepare yourself fully for a career in the uniformed services, with advanced skills and specialist field knowledge.

Course content

As well as leadership skills, you will study advanced map reading and navigation, self-defence and personal protection, coaching sessions in sport, current affairs and the legal implication of physical actions.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English Language and Maths); or a pass at BTEC Level 2 Certificate; or equivalent along with Cs or above in English
Language and Maths. You will need a good level of fitness and a successful interview with the course team.


You will produce a portfolio of work over the year consisting of work from unit workbooks and practical observation.

Future opportunities

You could move on to a higher-level qualification in a specialised area or a career in one of the armed or civilian Uniformed Services.
