Creative Media Production BTEC Diploma Level 1 at The Manchester College

Course description

If you’ve ever thought about working in creative media production, whichever area that may be, this Level 1 BTEC Diploma is a great place to start to get a comprehensive introduction to the industry and a solid understanding of the skills you’ll need for a successful career. With a focus on digital art and animation, you’ll be looking at a number of different topics throughout this course, including digital photography, web design, and digital image creation. You’ll learn how to develop and edit video and audio productions, and how to work in a team. Working with industry-standard tools and software, you’ll be developing the technology skills required for a number of different jobs in Media, as well as getting an insight into what it’s like to work in this exciting industry.



Financial information

The course is split into 10 units, which are each assessed in a variety of different ways, including practical assessments, written assignments, research projects and presentation work.

Further information

You’ll have developed a good basic understanding of the industry after completing this course, and developed the skills required to advance onto a Level 2 course with us at The Manchester College, in either Creative Media Production and Technology, or Art and Design. From here, you’ll be able to build on your knowledge and abilities, working towards a number of exciting and dynamic roles in the media industry. You could pursue a career in anything from Concept Artwork to Production Design, or from Creative Direction to Video Editing.

    • Northenden Campus is a large, welcoming campus, offering a wide range of courses for school leavers, apprentices, adults and university-level students.       Local area

      Northenden is a suburb of south Manchester. There are shops, a supermarket, restaurants and takeaways 15 minutes’ walk from the campus in central Northenden. There are also a small supermarket and shops closer to the campus. Northenden is surrounded by green space. The campus is minutes away from Gib Lane Wood and Wythenshawe Park which includes a community farm. It is also close to the Mersey Valley nature reserve; a riverside walk through miles of countryside and parkland.
