Health & Social Care Apprenticeship at West Cheshire College

Course description

The Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to work flexibly across a range of settings in the care sector. They provide a sound basis for career progression in to fields such as working with families, health and social services and residential care homes. The programme includes the NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, a Certificate in Health and Social Care and you’ll also improve your functional skills in English and maths and gain an understanding of Employment Rights and Responsibilities. The Apprenticeship would suit support service workers in the following roles: Porters, Security Staff, Housekeepers, Laundry Workers, Caterers, Cleaners and Health Record Workers. The Advanced Apprenticeship would suit job roles such as Care Manager, Supervising Care Team Leader and Senior Care Assistant.

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Certificate in Preparing to Work in the Adult Social Care, Key/Functional skills at Level 1.

Advanced Apprenticeship: You will work towards achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements

This Apprenticeship would suit those who are currently working in the health and social care sector, and would like to work and gain a recognised qualification.


Assessment will be completed through a combination of observations in the workplace and written questioning.

Future opportunities

Apprenticeship: Care Assistant, Ancillary Care Worker and Support Worker. The Advanced Apprenticeship: Care Manager, Supervising Care Team Leader and Senior Care Assistant.
