Mathematics - Use of Maths at Sarum Academy

Course description

In the AS course pupils will extend pupils
knowledge of some topics such as algebra
and trigonometry. New topics include
series and the binomial theorem,
logarithms and calculus. The AS course
comprises of two Pure Units, C1 and C2,
and one of either Statistics (S1),
Mechanics (M1) or Decision (D1).

In addition to the units listed above, the full
A level in Mathematics gives pupils the
opportunity to study a further applied
module (M1, D1 or S1) and another two
Pure Maths units (C3) and (C4).

Entry requirements

There are two GCE Advanced Level
courses offered at AS and A2 Level.
GCSE grade 'B' in Mathematics at Higher
Tier is an entry requirement for the Full A
Level course; a grade 'C' on the Higher
Tier Mathematics GCSE is a prerequisite
for the AS course.
