Film & TV (Single & Double) BTEC Level 3 at East Norfolk Sixth Form College
The course offers an introduction to media employment and equips you with essential skills that will be necessary across the entire creative media sector.
You will learn how to frame and shoot video footage, script writing, how to plan for a film shoot, how to edit, how to liaise with clients and much more.
You can complete a single block Certificate (equivalent to 1 AS level) or the double block Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to 1 full A Level) in the first year and then continue to a single or double block in the second year.
The qualification has a mixture of independent and group work and you will be expected to work equally well in both scenarios. If you envision working in a creative industry, this is the course for you.
You will focus on:
- How to construct specific film and television texts, such as:
- Short films
- Television adverts
- Channel idents
- Stop-motion animations
- Music videos
- Digital videography using high definition video cameras and DSLRs
- Editing moving image material using Premiere Pro. and After Effects.
- Job roles in the Creative Media Sector
- The importance of planning and health and safety
You will also be presented with opportunities to attend film screenings, careers events and a trip to London to visit the BBC, British Film Institute and Warner Bros. Studios. You can also submit your work to competitions and live briefs.
C grade or above in at least 4 GCSEs or BTEC subjects. You must be prepared to be on camera and must also sustain regular, high attendance due to the group-based production work.
Awarding Body – Edexcel
100% coursework comprised of written reports, practical assessments including scripting, camera operation and editing.
You will be expected to purchase a SDHC memory card which will be used to back-up important work.
