Level 1 Certificate in Preparation for Sport and the Uniformed Services at Kingston College

Course description

This course is designed for learners wishing to gain foundation knowledge in sport & exercise. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to progress onto a range of Fitness, Coaching and Sport courses at level 2.

Course content

Learners are assessed through the completion of a portfolio, observations and practical assessments in a number of qualifications. The course may include: NCFE Diploma in Uniformed Services and a Level 1 qualification in Principles of Coaching. Students also study English and Mathematics. Work experience forms an essential element of this study programme.

Entry requirements

Four graded GCSEs. Applicants should have an interest in working in the public service or sport industry including health and fitness and developing their coaching skills. A diagnostic test for literacy and numeracy skills will be undertaken.

    • The site at Kingston Hall Road is the College's main site and houses the Student Registry and Welfare departments as well as Deli KC and the ACT Theatre.  The Arena Sports facility and Arena Hair and Beauty are both attached to this building, which also houses the central administration facility for the College.
