Electrical Installation Level 2 Diploma at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College
The course is designed for those people interested in a career in the Construction industry, particularly related to Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
You may progress onto the 2365 Level 3 at Shooters Hill Campus. This will enable progression to employment at technician level. Alternatively you may enter employment into the industry returning to study further professional qualifications on a part time basis.
The course comprises of a number subject specific units to be completed over a one, two or three year period. A number of units are assignment based, and others have external exams. Students will study: (a) Electrical Installation Theory and Practices and Technology (exam) (b) Installation Electronics Technology (exam) (c) Electrical Installations Theory and Practice (Assignments) (d) Practical Wiring (Assignments) (e) Centre Assessment in various tasks in Health and Safety. Each unit is designed to give the students a wide experience of the different elements of the chosen pathway.
The programme is 20 hours per week for 36 weeks. In addition to these subjects students will study English either at GCSE or iGCSE. They will also study Maths. Please note that students who come in with a Maths or English GCSE grade at C or above will not be placed on a programme.
4 GCSEs at Grades A* - D (Minimum C Grades in Maths and D in English)
BTEC First Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (still need a minimum D in Maths) or Level 1 Electrical Installation (with a merit Grade and Minimum D Maths GCSE)
In addition to their main programme students will have the chance to take part in site visits giving them the opportunity to see a real construction site and talk to the workers. There is also a Campus enrichment programme that covers a number of activities and takes place during the lunch hour.
