Course description

To help students understand the importance of seeing problems through different perspectives, working with others and contributing to the work of teams.To develop knowledge and critical understanding of internal and external influences on business behaviour.By direct observation and experience of the working world promote critical understanding of the co-operation and interdependence which participation in society entails.To develop literacy and numeracy skills through business situations and problems.To develop awareness of the nature and significance of innovation and change within the context of business.What Does the subject lead to?At the end of Year 12 the students can achieve an AS Business Studies.In terms of employment it gives a good grounding in all the basic elements of the business world.In terms of Further Education it can lead to more specialised study.More commonly it provides a useful combination subject for most other language, humanities and science based course

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Accounting or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Business Studies, which could lead onto higher education in areas of business studies, marketing, accounting or more general higher education courses.With further training, you could go into a job related to business studies, marketing, finance and accounting, human resources and public relations. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that would support a trainee management course within a company and help you develop the skills, understanding and experience to work towards management level.
