Course description

The AAT Accounting Qualification gives you practical, internationally recognised finance and accountancy skills.

Course content

The course covers:

  • Preparing Final Accounts for Sole Traders and Partnerships
  • Costs and Revenues
  • Professional Ethics
  • Indirect Tax
  • Cash Management
  • Spreadsheets
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths

English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.

Entry requirements

You will have completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or a Level 2 award in manual book-keeping / accounting. Fluency in written English is essential. All students will be required to attend an assessment in English and Maths to gain a place on the course.


You will complete computer based exams.

Future opportunities

Accounting Technicians AAT Diploma Level 4 or a career in Accounts as a Trainee Accounting Technician or Assistant Accountant.

A significant amount of the job training is undertaken in the workplace. This is a demanding but interesting course which should be achieved in 12 months but will require you to complete study in your own time. Most jobs in this sector are office-based with a typical 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday working week. It is important you are punctual, presentable and a good team player.

You will be required to attend classroom learning one day per week, evening classes may be available.
