Music Level 2 at Gateshead College

Course description

Level 2 Music is great preparation for further studies in practical musicianship or music technology. If you don't yet have the GCSE entry requirements for direct Level 3 access or you need to refine your practical music skills this programme is ideal.

The programme is one year long, and in that time you'll focus on developing your practical skills and your understanding of the language of music and music production. You'll also learn about how the music business works, at all levels, and what you might be able to do to be employed in it.

This means you get to make music, using instruments, voice or software and learn how to work independently or with other musicians on how to turn your musical ideas into songs for live performance or recording.

You'll also spend time getting the other skills and qualifications you need to progress to further study or into the world of work. This will include study for English or Maths qualifications at Level 2 if you don't already have them.
