Theatre A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This highly practical course has enabled past students to progress to undergraduate courses in acting, stage management, media, English and drama therapy, with other students having progressed to actor training at leading drama schools. There is also the option of progressing to specialist arts therapist, teacher or theatre technician training. The course combines practical workshops (with the teacher as director) with research and discussion style seminars. Learning mostly comprises a live theatre production, prescribed plays and excerpt performances in front of an external examiner. Potential students need to be aware that this course involves a demanding extra-curricular rehearsal schedule.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language or Maths and a grade B or Merit in an Art subject.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.
