Contruction - Brickwork Pathway Level 1 Extended Certificate at Carlisle College
This qualification focuses on fundamental brickwork practical skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the qualification will ensure that the learner will have gained an understanding of the core skills and knowledge required by a tradesman working within the sector. The qualification does not require occupational evidence. Satisfactory completion of studies will lead to the Level 1 extended certificate in construction skills –Brickwork Pathway.
Introduction to health and safety in construction
Introduction to the construction industry
Constructing half brick walling
Constructing one brick walling
Constructing block walling
Constructing half brick return corners
Constructing cavity walls in brickwork and block work
Maths and English at an appropriate level
GCSEs at grades E – F
Or Entry Level Qualification
Or Scottish equivalent
At least 16 years old with an interest in the industry. Subject to an initial assessment and interview.
On-going assessment will take place throughout the course. All assessments within this qualification are externally set (by City and Guilds), centre marked assignments and practical assessments.
You may be able to progress to the level 2 diploma or an apprenticeship, if you gain employment in Brickwork.
As part of your programme of study, there is an expectation that you undertake a timetabled work placement or experience block of learning, this is designed to enable you to gain experience of the industry. You will also have the opportunity to complete additional modules from our construction skills portfolio, Including: Electrical, Plastering, Brickwork, Joinery, Electrical and Paint and Decorating, This will allow you to gain a wider experience of the industry and increase you skills.
