Media Studies A Level at Millom School

Course description

OCR Media Studies is a subject which teaches its students many skills. You are required to be creative, imaginative, analytical and evaluative and committed.

During the course, you will study the Key Concepts of Audience, Institutions, Representation, Filming / Editing and Media Language.

You will have the opportunity to study the Film and Television industries in both a theoretical and practical way, plus choosing to specialise your Controlled Assessments / Coursework with practical projects on Magazines, Video Games, Radio, Music Videos, Celebrities or Sport in the Media for you to choose from.

A minimum of half the course is practical and both courses have one exam paper, at the end of the course.

Media Studies links particularly well with careers in Journalism, Film / TV research and production (including camera work and sound), Radio, Video Game development and Animation
