BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design at St John Rigby College
BTEC Art and Design will allow you to specialise within the practical arts and provides an excellent introduction to a career in the visual arts industry. Practical skills within both two and three dimensions will be explored and you will be encouraged to broaden your understanding of the historical development of Art and Design and establish a critical appreciation. Visits to galleries and museums are an integral part of the course.
In this course you will explore a range of Art and Design disciplines including Drawing and Painting, Graphics, 3D Design, Photography and Printmaking. Tutors will encourage you to work imaginatively and creatively, exploring different materials and techniques. Alongside this there are important assignments in contextual and historical studies of Art and Design. The exploration of the work of others will enhance your understanding in this multi-disciplinary course and challenge your own creative ideas. Throughout your studies you will produce an extensive portfolio addressing specific assessment criteria and this exciting body of work will be suitable for university or employment interviews.
College entry to include GCSE Art or Art related subject minimum grade 4 (please refer to the Entry Requirements section page 30 for further details).
The BTEC Extended Diploma is assessed through a range of practical and written assignments.
