Course content

This course aims to give students an introduction to the world of work in the Leisure and Tourism Industry. All students complete four compulsory units:-
  1. Working in a team in the Leisure and Tourism Industury
  2. Investigating Leisure and Tourism
  3. Skills training for Leisure and Tourism
  4. Employment opportunities in Leisure and Tourism
This is a practical, vocational course where you will be expected to investigate, research and report on a variety of topics.


You study four units over the two years, each worth 25% of your final grade. All units are Centre assessed, and there are no examinations in this qualification. Students may work at a faster rate to achieve additional certificated units to a maximum of eight, which will then be recognised as a full Level 1 National Award.

Future opportunities

All pupils who successfully complete this course will be able to continue onto the Level 2 Travel and Tourism Vocational Course. Many pupils wish to seek employment in the Travel and Tourism industry for which this course is ideal preparation.

Further information

You must be able to research topics and produce reports. An independent approach to learning is essential. Access to ICT will be helpful, but not essential.
