Mathematics AS/A Level at Hazelwick School

Course description

The techniques & skills learned will underpin a wide spectrum of courses at University.  In addition, the choice of Mathematics will complement other courses as well.  There are clear links between the subject & the science subjects, while applications into financial & economic studies can be found within the Mathematics specification.

The course aims to build on the problem-solving skills that have been developed within Mathematics GCSE.  The problems to be solved will be combined with more traditional exam questions.

Any student considering an Engineering course after A level would benefit from a full understanding of these principles.

Course content

Two thirds of the course will be Pure Mathematics.  The remainder Applied Mathematics.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in Mathematics


Regular assessments & 2 hr exams (100 marks each) to see how well you are coping with the demands of this qualification.
