Art & Design Level 3 Foundation Diploma at Franklin College

Course description

This intensive course will provide you with an opportunity to explore a wide variety of Art and Design areas to enable you to identify a specialist area to study at degree level. You will engage with creative projects, practical workshops, critical debates, lectures and seminars as well as creative studio practice. The course will provide you with guidance on building a specialist and creative portfolio and preparation for interview. You will have the chance to engage with practicing artists and designers as well as making study visits. The year will culminate in a final major show of your work.

Entry requirements

Students are expected to possess a minimum of one A Level in an art related subject, in addition to other Level 3 qualifications. Students will be required to attend a portfolio interview with art staff.

Future opportunities

Many students progress to a variety of degree programmes for example a BA (Hons) in fields such as: animation, ceramics, fashion, textiles, fine art, film, graphic design, illustration, photography and sculpture. Alternatively, the course furnishes students with transferrable skills to enhance their future employment in the creative sector or gain entry to other universities and colleges.
