Level 3 Public Services - 90 Credit Diploma at Leeds City College

Course description

This course is suitable for students who would like to work in the uniformed or non-uniformed public services including police, fire, prison and ambulance service, armed forces, probation or crown prosecution service. You should have aspirations to work in a management or senior ranking role.

Course content

You will learn about the importance of discipline, teamwork and leadership within the public services and how these things can be affected by government policies. You will also learn about the communication, command and control systems and how to deal with conflict.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and ideally Maths or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit Grade with GCSE English at Grade C or above and ideally Maths.

If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades A-C or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.


There are no exams, you will be assessed through coursework.

Assessments methods include online quizzes, discussion forums and blogs, case studies and observations of practical exercises.

Future opportunities

After completing the course you will be able to apply for positions in one of the uniformed or non-uniformed public service or you may choose to progress onto a Higher Education programme.
