Course description
Biology is the science of life and so is relevant to all of us. It presents an exciting, challenging and complete study on its own but also provides a good basis for further study for a wide range of scientific and medical careers.
Course content
Biological molecules and cells. How Organisms exchange substances with their environment. Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms Energy transfers in and between organisms and how organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments. Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems and the control of gene expression.
Entry requirements
A in GCSE Science / Biology and a B in Maths, but you will be considered with a B in GCSE Science / Biology.
Future opportunities
Leading to careers in: Health care professions including nursing, medicine, dentistry Teaching Research Microbiology Ecology and Environmental Science.
