Spanish (Fast Track) at King Edward VII

Course content

If you choose the Fast-track course you will take your GCSE Spanish examinations at the end of Year 10. You will continue to focus on writing skills during Year 9 and write two pieces of GCSE coursework by the end of the summer term. In Year 10 you will complete your final coursework assignment and prepare for the speaking, reading and listening exams which you will take in May of Y10.In Year 11 you will continue to study Spanish and to improve your command and fluency in the language. We will offer you the opportunity to use Spanish more creatively and for your own purposes. You will have an e-pal in one of our partner schools and will have regular communication with them to stretch your learning and pick up more authentic ways of expressing yourself. We will also work with materials such as Spanish pop music, television, websites and magazines

Entry requirements



Assessment There are two tiers of entry.

Coursework Your best 3 pieces of coursework from Y9 and Y10 must be handed In by March in Y10. They are worth 25% of your final mark.

Examinations Foundation Listening lasts 35 minutes Higher Listening lasts 40 minutes Foundation Reading lasts 30 minutes Higher Listening lasts 50 minutes Foundation Speaking lasts 15 minutes Higher Speaking lasts 20 minutes Each of these is worth 25% of your final mark.
