Business (BTEC Level 2) at Morecambe Community High School

Course description

The BTEC in Business has been designed to provide a broad educational basis for training, entry to Advanced courses or for moving into employment within the business sector after leaving school.

Course content

The course is practical, introducing students to work-related learning that equips students with some of the skills they will need in the business workplace. The emphasis upon role play, problem solving and research course work allows students to take charge of their own learning and development, gaining better motivation leading to greater achievement.

Assessment

The majority of the course is assessed through the development of portfolio or folders of coursework. Only one third is assessed through examination. This may imply the course is easier than other courses, but the opposite is the case. Coursework requires much more continuous effort and is very time consuming.

Future opportunities

This opens up the doors to workplace training with firms, BTEC course at college or Advanced courses here at school such as Business or Business BTEC Level 3.
