Business (BTEC Level 2) at Morecambe Community High School
The BTEC in Business has been designed to provide a broad educational basis for training, entry to Advanced courses or for moving into employment within the business sector after leaving school.
The course is practical, introducing students to work-related learning that equips students with some of the skills they will need in the business workplace. The emphasis upon role play, problem solving and research course work allows students to take charge of their own learning and development, gaining better motivation leading to greater achievement.
U1 – Investigating Business
U2 – Business Resources
U3 – Financial Forecasting
U4 – People in Organisations
U12 – Business online
U16 – Business Enterprise
U15 – Bookkeeping
U20 – Managing Personal Finances
U21 – Promoting and Branding in Retail Business
The majority of the course is assessed through the development of portfolio or folders of coursework. Only one third is assessed through examination. This may imply the course is easier than other courses, but the opposite is the case. Coursework requires much more continuous effort and is very time consuming.
This opens up the doors to workplace training with firms, BTEC course at college or Advanced courses here at school such as Business or Business BTEC Level 3.
