Course content

The BTEC Levels 2 Certificate or Diploma in Fashion and Clothing are vocational and work related qualifications.  You will learn a wide range of skills that you would need if you wanted to work in the industry.

You will learn creative textile techniques alongside traditional pattern cutting and creating clothing from your own designs. Projects will cover a variety of fashion topics such as sewing techniques, designing, garment construction and printed textiles.

You will go on visits to fashion exhibitions locally and in London. You will also have the opportunity to gain work experience in the industry.



Each unit is internally assessed and students can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Students will be observed and assessed on practical and/or written assignments linked with each unit.


Career opportunities

Completion of level 2 would allow the learner to progress to level 3 routes in Fashion and Clothing or other related areas.

This course could lead to employment in the Fashion and Retail industry.

Entry Requirement

Preferably 4 GCSE’s grades A*-D
