Art A Level at Kingsmead School

Course description

Art A-Level students are offered a scheme of work that encourages them to discover and explore their own creativity, work is based on the theme of the human form in YR12 and the school offers life drawing classes after school to support students drawing skills, students explore the theme through observational drawing, painting and sculpture, students work is of a very high standard and student benefit from an open space within the dept where they can work outside of timetabled lessons.

In Yr13 students complete a personal investigation of their own choice and are supported with opportunities to attend portfolio days. At the end of term two AS & A2 Students start work on exam preparation based on a choice of externally set titles they then sit a practical exam over a period of days where they will work in the Art rooms to produce a final and informed final piece. Work is celebrated in a well attended exhibition at the end of the summer term.
