Performance Studies at Island Innovation VI Form Campus

Course description

Are you passionate about the Performing Arts? Would you like to perform music, dance and drama to a high standard? Have you got imagination? Would you like to study a wide range of practitioners from Godber in drama to the music of the Beatles or even the stunning choreography of Matthew Bourne? Do you want to let your creativity flow in community based pieces? Would you like to know more about the American musical? Do you love learning the theory of practitioners as well as the practical aspect of performance? If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then Performance Studies is the subject for you!

During this course you will work with others, both practically and in research mode .It is a vocational style course which requires you to produce extensive written coursework and have an interest in the Performing Arts industry. The amount of record keeping and research should not be underestimated.

Course content

AS units: Creating a performance and performance contexts 1.

A2 units: Performance contexts 2 and performance project.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C grades at GCSE

Future opportunities

Acting, performing, teaching, theatre technician or designer.
