Sports Leadership L3 (Higher) at South Wirral High School

Course description

The Level 3 Certificate in Higher Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful students to lead un-supervised groups of people in sport and recreational activities. This qualification builds upon the skills and experience gained through the Level 2 Awards. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no final examinations to sit.

Course content

Unit 1: Developing leadership skills

Unit 2: Provision of sport within the community

Unit 3: Lead sessions designed to improve fitness

Unit 4: Organise and lead a sports event or competition

Unit 5: Developing leadership skills

Unit 6: Lead sports /activity sessions for children

Unit 8: Lead sports /activity sessions for disabled people

30 hours of volunteering

Entry requirements

Completed Sports Leadership Level 2 or Community Sports Leadership AwardCommitment to leadership in the community and working with younger students

Future opportunities

Higher Sports Leaders Award in year 13 (the HSL carries 30 UCAS points) // To gain other qualifications in sports coaching // F A Level 1 - Netball // Basketball - Rugby // Disability Sport
