Construction BTEC Diploma Level 2 at The Kingsway Academy

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction offers a specialist qualification that provides an introduction to three main areas in the construction industry. It is equivalent to 4 GCSEs graded A*- C. Many of the units are practical and there are a number of theory units to be covered as well.

Course content

This is a work related course which develops skills in the construction industry including: Joinery You will be introduced to the hand tools most commonly used in joinery and the processes and techniques involved in using hand tools to form joinery products. Brickwork You will be introduced to the common bonding arrangements used for raising corners, junctions and piers in brickwork and to the processes and techniques used in their construction, including pointing and jointing. Plastering You will be using hand tools, equipment and using basic craft skills needed to stud partitions and apply plaster coats.

Entry requirements

GCSE grades D and E


Different types of assessment will be used from observation of tasks, witness testimony, written evidence and photographic evidence. The units are assessed and graded by your teachers. An overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction will be awarded depending on the quality of your work.
