A Level Biology at Theale Green School

Course description

Biology enables you to focus in depth on a range of biological topics e.g. infectious diseases, heart and circulation, photosynthesis and plant transport. One module at AS and A2 has a practical element which is assessed therefore enabling you to continue to enjoy practical work within the laboratory.

Unit 1: Cell structure, cell division, exchange surfaces and breathing, transport in plant & animals

  • Unit 2: Biological molecules, enzymes, food & health, biodiversity & evolution
  • Unit 3: Practical tasks. There are three tasks qualitative, quantitative and evaluative Unit 4: Communication, Excretion, Photosynthesis, Respiration
  • Unit 5: DNA, meiosis, gene technology and the environment ,li>Unit 6: Practical tasks. There are three tasks qualitative, quantitative and evaluative.

  • Entry requirements

    Maths grade B and English at grade B.

  • Core Science grade B and additional science at grade B.
  • Separate sciences grade B in Biology and grade B in Chemistry.
