Course description

Further Mathematics: Pearson

Students will study a combination of Pure and Applied Mathematics. 

Pure Mathematics - proof, complex numbers, matrices, further algebra and functions, further calculus, further vectors, polar coordinates, hyperbolic functions, differential equations, trigonometry, numerical methods and coordinate geometry.

Applied Mathematics – a combination of mechanics, statistics, decision mathematics or further Pure Mathematics.

A mixture of class teaching, group work, investigations, and
independent research. There is an increasing emphasis on 1CT.

Entry requirements

Grade 8 in Mathematics, plus A level Mathematics must be taken along side this.

Assessment

Paper 1: 1 hour 30 minutes written paper (worth 25% of the A Level)

Paper 2: 1 hour 30 minutes written paper (worth 25% of the A Level)

Paper 3: 1 hour 30 minutes written paper (worth 25% of the A Level)

Paper 4: 1 hour 30 minutes written paper (worth 25% of the A Level)
