Art And Design (90 Credit) L3 Diploma at North Lindsey College

Course description

The Level 3 (90 Credit) Diploma in Art & Design is a one year programme in design and creative arts, which is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels or 3 AS Levels. The course has been developed to meet the needs of those wishing to pursue a career within the areas of Art & Design and/or progress on to Higher Education. The courses have been specifically designed to give the learners the skills and understanding of a range of disciplines, and enable them to find a focus for possible future progression at degree level. The course covers a wide range of disciplines including fine art, graphic design, 3-Dimensional design, textile and fashion design.

Entry requirements

- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C, including English and Maths and an art or design based subject
- Successful completion of a level 2 programme where personal targets have been met
- A satisfactory reference
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates ability to the required standard
- Mature students who present a portfolio of work are also welcome and entry requirement qualifications may be flexible in some cases.


Your progress will be measured in a number of ways including practical projects, written assignments and internal assessment throughout the course. You will receive information about this through verbal feedback and written feedback from an assignment or project, and grading of your work. Assessment of student work is monitored by an internal verifier and you may be required to submit work to an external verifier from the examining body. Students studying Maths or English will be assessed through formal exams.

Future opportunities

Successful students could progress to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
