Manufacturing Engineering at Willenhall E-ACT Academy

Course description

A BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course that is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A*-C. You will normally need to have at least one of the following in order to enrol on the course: ? A Foundation GNVQ in Engineering ? Appropriate GCSEs (normally at least four passes at Grade E or above to include science, mathematics and a subject testing the use of English.) ? Appropriate knowledge and /or experience gained in employment. ? Engineering Manufacturing NVQs at level 2 or experience appropriate for this level of study. The course is made up of six units ? three core units that everyone takes and three specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study a particular area in more depth. Core Units: ? Applied Science and Mathematics for Technicians ? Working Practices ? Engineering Processes and Techniques Specialist Units: ? Manufacturing Technology ? Welding and Fabrication Principles and Technology ? Engineering Drawing and Marking out ? CAD Fundamentals ? CNC Fundamentals ? Quality Control and Measurement ? Electronic Fundamentals ? Robot Technology and Programmable Controllers
