Higher Engineering Apprenticeship at Siemens PLC

Course description

During the first 2 years the programme will allow apprentices to experience a broad range of departments and roles within Siemens Process Industries and Drives and also at our Low Voltage & Products business in Wythenshawe.

Siemens is offering an IET approved professional development programme for apprentice engineers, combining both personal and technical development, 'off the job' college based training and 'on the job' experience which is intended to lead to completion of a Higher Apprenticeship with the following qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 in performing engineering operations (PEO) - Conducted as 'block release' at Trafford College.
  • NVQ Level 4 in Technical Support (delivered in the workplace)
  • Technical Certificate - HNC (conducted one day per week at Trafford college). This in turn can lead to conversion to HND and ultimately a BEng.


Entry requirements

For an advanced apprenticeship you should have, or be expecting a minimum of four GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including:

 Maths • English • Science

Other relevant higher level qualifications such as A levels, NVQs and Diplomas are required for a higher apprenticeship.
