Why should I come to Runshaw to study IT with Business?
Do you like working with computers? If ‘yes’ then you should consider studying a BTEC Level 1 in IT with Business!
This course has been designed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the IT sector.
You will get a good grounding in all aspects of the subject, and this will provide you with the means to study a specialist area when either moving on to university, progressing into employment, or continuing with training on an apprenticeship. You will experience a variety of units chosen with current trends and demands in mind. Teachers are highly experienced and dedicated to making the time students spend with us both successful and enjoyable.
Good communication skills are essential, and most importantly you must have a passion for the subject and a willingness to be creative and dedicated. There may be choices of specialist unit that include programming for those learners who demonstrate their ability.
To stimulate your ideas and widen your college experience there are many opportunities to go on college trips and get to know other vocational students.

The pass rate for 2018 on this course was 100%, with 95% of students achieving high grades.
What will I study?
This is a practical course and you will learn about working in the industry, PC systems, communication methods, using the internet and digital devices. In addition to developing excellent IT skills you will also develop good personal effectiveness skills including team work, basic finance and communication skills which are essential for success in employment.
As part of the course you will also study English and Maths and will develop employability skills to help you reach your full potential.
For access to our Level 1 courses, our entry requirements are 1 x GCSE at Grade 3 and 1 x GCSE at Grade 2. This should include Maths or English Language at Grade 2 and no less than a 1 in the other.
IT with Business does not have any specific additional requirements.
How is the course assessed?
The course is delivered through a combination of lessons and practical workshops and is assessed 100% through coursework.
No course fees are applicable for 16-18 year old learners who meet funding regulations.
What progression is there?
Successful completion of this course may lead to progression in college, Apprenticeship or junior employment.
