Psychology at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy
BACA 6th Form offers a broad curriculum, tailored and adaptable to meet student’s educational needs. Our goal is to ensure our students leave us as mature, confident and ambitious individuals, with the necessary qualifications and array of experiences required to make a significant contribution in a competitive and challenging world.
Our 6th Form students and staff at BACA celebrated a successful A-level and BTEC exam results day in August 2014, with 100% of students securing their apprenticeships, university places and careers for the future; this is a fantastic achievement for the recently opened BACA 6th Form.
We are overjoyed with the increasing number of students choosing BACA 6th Form to continue their studies. We have a number of new opportunities available to students– a new creative media course which will prepare students wanting to work in the games development and digital media industries, and a two-year CACHE child development course open to year 12 students.
At BACA 6th Form we offer three pathways that involve different qualifications, all of which can lead to further or higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
A-LevelThis is a two year programme where students study AS-levels in the first year and progress to A2 in the second year.
Vocational Level 3 (BTEC) This is a two year programme. Each Level 3 BTEC course is equivalent to one A-level.
Foundation Level 2 This pathway offers students to improve their GCSE grades in order to provide a firm basis for further academic study or employment. In this one year programme, students are supported in achieving level 2 qualifications. They are also offered to study two other vocational subjects to GCSE level.Students will progress onto level 3 courses if successful in achieving a C or above in English and maths, and passing their vocational courses.
