Applied Science BTEC Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 at Parkside School

Course description

THE BTEC CERTIFICATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE IS A ONE YEAR COURSE AND IS EQUIVALENT TO ONE AS LEVEL, IF A STUDENT CARRIES ON FOR THE SECOND YEAR THEY WILL STUDY FOR A SUBSIDIARY DIPLOMA WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO ONE A LEVEL.

Both qualifications attract UCAS points.

Applied Science is suitable for students interested in pursuing careers in more vocational science areas e.g. Laboratory and Industrial Science, Operating Department Practice, Clinical Science and Forensic Science.

The courses is designed to provide you with specialist work related qualifications in a range of areas. It will provide you with the transferable skills and knowledge to enter employment or further education in science related careers.

 

 

 

 

Course content

After completing the mandatory units of theBTEC Certificate Level 3 in Applied Science, you will specialise into the area of choice and gain a full A level:

APPLIED, MEDICAL OR FORENSICS

 

Entry requirements

Completion of the BTEC Certficate Level 3.

Assessment

All courses are marked internally and consist of 100% coursework including case studies, assignments and work based assignments.

Graded as PASS, MERIT, DISTINCTION

 

Future opportunities

The course is designed to provide you with specialist workrelated qualifications in a range of areas. It will provide you with the transferable skills and knowledge to enter employment or further education in science related careers.

 

Further information

You will receive comprehensive support and encouragement but there is a strong emphasis on self motivation and independent learning.

We undertake visits to Disneyland--Paris, to see how applied science can be used in a large global company and to Huddersfield University to taste a day in the life of an operating theatre practitioner.
