Year 1 Unit 1 Particles, Quantum Phenomena and Electricity

(AS)

Unit 2 Mechanics, Materials and Waves

Unit 3 Centre assessed unit. This will assess the students' practical skills throughout the course including an Investigative Skills Assignment

Year 2 Unit 4 Fields and Further Mechanics

(A2)

Unit 5 Comprises of 2 sections:

Nuclear and Thermal Physics

One Option is taken from

o Astrophysics

o Medical Physics

o Applied Physics

o Turning Points in Physics

Unit 6 Centre Assessed Unit. This will assess the students' practical skills throughout the course including an Investigative Skills Assignment

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE requirements Science (Core and Additional) - B including B on all Additional Science examined units, Maths - B, English Language - C.

Future opportunities

Physics is especially useful when considering a career in the following areas - Accountancy, Airline Pilot, Architecture, Astronomy, Computing, Engineering, Medical Physics, Medicine, Scientific Research and Teaching. 

Further information

Physics combines well with other Science subjects, particularly Mathematics. Like Chemistry and Mathematics, Physics is viewed by universities as a challenging subject and they may reduce entry requirements for courses in other subjects.
