Engineering at Hall Park Academy

Course description

If you have an interest in engineering then this could be the course for you.

Course content

The programme is vibrant and varied with a range of projects involving working solo and in small groups. There is also regular theoretical input. You will be developing knowledge, skills and understanding of health and safety in the engineering workplace, mechanical principles and applications, and electrical and electronic principles.

Entry requirements

If you have studied this subject before, then you will need to have achieved at least a Pass. If you have not studied this course before, then you will need to have achieved a minimum of 4 subjects at the equivalent of A*-C at Key Stage 4. For further information talk to your teachers or attend the Post-16 Open Evening.

Assessment

You need good attendance and punctuality throughout the course as well as an ability to work independently. You will need to be motivated and organised as there are a lot of deadlines to meet. The course is based on task and project completion. The course is assessed purely on continuous assessment.

Future opportunities

If you wish to continue in education then you could progress on to a foundation degree. This award is recognised by UCAS and so the points achieved by the end of the course can go towards gaining a place at university. Other people who have studied this course have gone on to work as computer engineers, welders and in aircraft maintenance, railway signaling and computer aided manufacturing to name but a few.
