BTEC Applied Science at The Windsor Boys' School

Course description

The BTEC Applied Science is an established and highly successful course which gives a work-related qualification designed to accommodate the needs of employers as well as allowing progression to university.

BTECs provide a more practical, real-world approach to learning alongside a theoretical background.

Units will be assessed through the completion of assignments. There is no exam component with this course.

Year 12 (Certificate)

Unit 1: The fundamentals of science

Unit 2: Working in the science industry

Unit 4: Scientific practical techniques

Year 13 (Subsidiary Diploma)

Unit 6: Using mathematical tools for science

Unit 8: Using statistics for science

Unit 11: Physiology of human body systems

Unit 22: Chemical laboratory techniques

Entry requirements

We would expect learners to have GCSE grade C for Science, Maths and English Language.
