Physics *FEES PAYABLE* at Sackville School

Course description

This course will enable you to gain a greater knowledge and
understanding of the physical world. We hope that the course will
stimulate your interest in, and enjoyment of, the study of physics as
well as an appreciation of the scientific, social, environmental and
technological contributions made by physics to society. This will
enable you to make informed choices in an increasingly technological
society.
What do I study?
In the AS year:
you will study 2 theory modules and 1 coursework module. The topics include communication,
designer materials, waves and quantum behaviour, space, time and motion. The coursework
module gives you the chance to demonstrate your experimental, research and presentation skills.
In the A2 year:
you will again study 2 theory modules and 1 coursework module. The topics include: mathematical
models, matter in extremes, fields and fundamental particles. The coursework in A2 consists of 2
more substantial pieces of work recognizing your more developed skills by this stage

Entry requirements

A or B in physics or additional science and A or B in maths, One of physics, additional science or maths must be an A grade. Although taking AS maths is not an entry requirement it is highly recommended
