Political Studies AS A2 at Bishop Stopford CE School

Course description

As a student of A level Politics you will explore how political power is gained and used, and learn about how governments, political institutions and systems work both in the uK and elsewhere.

It combines well with other subjects, and will lead to a huge range of further opportunities such as arts and humanities related courses at university, and careers in law and the civil service.

Course content

In Year 12 (AS level) you will study:

1) People and Politics

2) Governing the UK.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C is the minimum entry requirement, although we recommend an average of 8 Grade C GCSEs.

Financial information

While there are no charges fore the course itself, there will be costs associated with educational visits for Politics. (eg travel costs to the Houses of Parliament.)

Further information

There are opportunities to attend trips to Westminster, and other Politics-related conferences. We also arrange visits to school from local MPs and MEPs.

Whilst all our courses are compatable with each other, the timetable may limit some combinations.
